MICRONEEDLING

Time for… a new you.

Dermapen™

This is the next step up from Dermaroller, offering smoother, less painful and more controllable treatments.

Dermapen microneedling is an award-winning procedure that involves using a handheld electrically powered pen device with multiple tiny needles in the tip. When moved over the skin, the needles create hundreds of thousands of small holes that are nearly invisible to the naked eye. This stimulates the body’s natural healing process, gradually creating a skin surface that is tighter, softer and smoother. As well as the face, it is used on the neck, chest, abdomen and other body areas.

We are the second clinic in the UK to offer EPN microneedling.

The EPN pen™

This medical grade pen from Lynton is the world’s first microneedling device with electroporation. It is designed to produce all the positive effects of microneedling but also increases the benefits of active ingredients applied to the skin, through increased absorption of topical products used during treatment, directly into the cells.

A fine electrical current is passed through the needles during the treatment which reduces the depth of treatment needed, with less downtime and even better results.

Microneedling encourages the skin to produce more collagen, which can help fill in acne scars and fine lines, minimise enlarged pores, and tighten up loose skin. Collagen stimulation via microneedling procedures has been used for centuries. However, the system has been updated over time, allowing adjustment of the depth of the needles during penetration. The depth can be adjusted from 0.1 to 2.5mm. It can also be used to deliver mesotherapy to deliver a bespoke cocktail of ingredients just below the skin surface to rejuvenate the skin.

Microneedling is used to treat:

  •    Dull, lifeless skin
  •    Fine lines and wrinkles
  •    Sagging skin
  •    Pigmentation
  •    Open pores
  •    Uneven skin tone
  •    Acne scars
  •    Scars from trauma and surgery
  •    Stretch marks

The small size of the pen tip enables Professor MacKenzie to get into smaller areas of your face and is safe for use in more sensitive areas around the eyes, nose, and mouth.

How long does it take to see results?

Each patient is different and the time it takes patients to see results with microneedling will vary. Some patients notice significant improvements in a few days, while others might not see any changes for several weeks. Factors such as the condition of the epidermis and skin type can determine how long it takes to see results. Typically, you will see rejuvenated skin about 6 to 8 weeks following the first treatment. Because the procedure stimulates your own natural collagen and elastin production, your skin’s appearance should continue to undergo improvement through the long term. Most clients will have 3-6 treatments around 4 weeks apart.

Is the procedure safe?

While microneedling is a skin remodelling treatment that essentially tricks the skin into a state of repair, it does not pose any significant risk of damage. Common side effects such as red skin, pinpoint bruises, stinging, peeling, itching, and tightness typically subsides within 4-5 days. Skin numbing cream can be used before the procedure.
